About Us

Building Useful Things Since 1996

Awesome Technologies is a practical innovation company. We build software, automation, and AI-assisted tools that make complex work easier, faster, and more reliable.

For just over thirty years, Awesome Technologies has been the working identity behind a simple idea: take good products and make them Awesome. Find the friction. Find the unreliable system. Find the opportunity that's almost good but not yet great — and build the thing that closes the gap.

A Founder-Led Company

Awesome Technologies was founded by Steve Hunsader, a mechanical engineer, inventor, and strategic investor based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Steve's background is hands-on engineering, not abstract software theory. That orientation — design the thing, build the thing, optimize the thing — runs through every project Awesome Technologies has taken on. Over the past three decades, Steve has spent his time doing one thing in many forms: evaluating products, markets, and technologies, then either allocating capital toward what works or building something better when nothing does.

He calls the framework: Evaluate → Innovate → Fabricate → Optimize. It applies equally well to a portfolio, a product category, or a tool sitting on a workbench.

Awesome Technologies is the platform that holds it all together.

A Working History

1996 — Quick Coupons!

In the early commercial internet, when most consumers were still figuring out what a browser was, Steve launched Quick Coupons! — one of the first and, for a stretch between early 1996 and late 1998, the largest online coupon platforms on the web.

The thesis was straightforward: consumers wanted to save money, businesses wanted to reach customers, and the web was about to make the connection between them dramatically cheaper. Quick Coupons! existed years before affiliate marketing, deal aggregators, and online couponing became standard consumer infrastructure.

1998 — AwesomeNet Hosting Services

The next gap was reliability. As businesses moved online in the late 1990s, the hosting industry was full of providers who couldn't reliably keep sites up. Steve founded AwesomeNet Hosting Services in early 1998 with a focus that sounds obvious in hindsight and was unusual at the time: actually staying online.

AwesomeNet targeted 99.99% uptime and built its operation around the practical needs of businesses that depended on the web to function. The company operated for just over a decade and was sold to Applied Innovations in July 2009, when good reliability in the hosting market became the norm.

Today — Awesome Technologies

The reactivated Awesome Technologies is the parent platform for a new generation of work: AI co-authored software, automation systems, data and decision-support tools, and business productivity products. The same instinct that drove Quick Coupons! and AwesomeNet is driving the current chapter — identify the friction, build the better tool, ship something Awesome.

What We Believe

What We Build

Awesome Technologies develops tools across several categories, with new products introduced under their own brands as they mature:

Much of what Awesome Technologies builds is proprietary — developed for clients, partners, or internal use under terms that keep the details private. Public products live under their own brands; the rest lives quietly behind NDAs and confidentiality agreements. Awesome Technologies is the builder either way.

What's Next

The work ahead is for the people and businesses who want clearer information, better workflows, and less friction in their day. Awesome Technologies is building for them — practically, deliberately, and with three decades of accumulated lessons behind every decision.

We've been at this a long time. We're just getting started.
